Easy 5-Ingredient matcha green tea smoothie. This green smoothie is fruit and veggie packed, cold, double-thick, smooth, creamy and delicious!
This matcha green tea smoothie contains all the goodness of a regular green smoothie with added green tea flavor (subtle – but lovely) and all the antioxidants that green tea contains.
It’s pretty darn awesome and adds a wonderful flavor and richness to smoothies.
I’m always a fan of a good green smoothie and the addition of matcha green tea makes it something really special!
It’s fruit and veggie packed, cold, double-thick, smooth, creamy and utterly delicious! It’s also ready in 10 minutes! How much better can it get?
And if you love matcha then you’ll also love our vegan matcha cookies, vegan matcha ice cream and vegan matcha cupcakes.
Caffeine In Matcha
So matcha powder has a little caffeine. I’m quite caffeine sensitive so I kept this smoothie pretty mild and only used 2 teaspoons of matcha powder.
Because when I say ‘caffeine sensitive’ what I really mean is ‘Crazy Eyes’ from ‘Orange Is the New Black’ ain’t got nothin’ on me!
I love how the matcha adds a subtle hint of green tea flavor to the smoothie without being overpowering. If you want more of a caffeine boost though, you could easily add more matcha powder to the recipe.
Perfect For Breakfast
This is GREAT for breakfast – doing double duty as your caffeine shot for the day as well as your super healthful infusion of fruit and veggie goodness to power you up for the day ahead.
So I’m a fan – I think you will be too!
Storing Tips
This smoothie is best enjoyed immediately! The fresh fruits and vegetables can start to oxidize and lose some of their deliciousness as time goes on. However, you can store it in the fridge for a day if you need to then stir well and enjoy.

Notes
- Bananas must be peeled, broken into quarters and frozen at least 12 hours before. Anytime you have extra ripe bananas, peel, break into quarters and freeze in a freezer bag so you have them on hand for smoothies.
- This smoothie is best enjoyed immediately, though leftovers can be stored in the fridge for a day.

I have low iron and ever since I found out spinach is an excellent source, I’ve been finding ways to incorporate it into my diet. Unfortunately I really hate spinach, so I was pleasantly surprised when I tried this ! The spinach taste is almost unnoticeable yet I have the comfort that I am getting those essential nutrients. Plus, I love that I can get a little bit of energy from the matcha – I’ve been trying to steer away from coffee recently and this has been great. Gives me the energy I need without feeling jittery !
Alison Andrews says
Awesome Meika, so happy to hear that! It’s a wonderful feature of smoothies that you can get greens in without even noticing. Thanks for the great review!
