Ingredients You’ll Need For This Smoothie:
Ingredient Notes
- Almond butter – can be replaced with a different nut butter. Peanut butter works great, but any nut butter will do!
- Frozen banana – should ideally be frozen at least 12 hours in advance. Whenever you have extra ripe bananas on hand, peel them, break them into quarters and freeze them. This way they’ll be ready for smoothies (or for making banana nice cream) anytime you like. If you don’t have frozen bananas on hand then you can use fresh banana, but frozen works best for a creamy cold shake.
- Fresh blueberries – are so delicious in this shake, but if they’re out of season, then feel free to use frozen blueberries.
- Almond milk – can be replaced with any other non-dairy milk.
How To Make A Blueberry Banana Smoothie
You will find full instructions and measurements in the recipe card at the bottom of the post. This is a summary of the process to go along with the process photos.
- Add almond milk to the blender jug followed by almond butter, frozen banana and fresh blueberries.
- Blend very well until completely smooth and creamy.
- Pour out into glasses and serve immediately.
Smoothie Tips
- Use a high powered blender if possible for the smoothest, creamiest consistency. If you don’t have a high speed blender feel free to add a bit more almond milk to make it easier to blend.
- Frozen fruit (in this case, frozen banana) really helps to keep your smoothie ice cold without diluting the flavors by using ice. If you don’t have frozen banana on hand and want to use fresh banana, then use frozen blueberries so that you have at least one frozen fruit in the mix.
- Drink up right away, since everything in this smoothie is fresh it will oxidize if you leave it lying around. Fresh is best for this one. Drink it straight away, ice-cold and delicious!
